4 Parts Of A Good Article

By:  Sharon Harrison

If your list is the heart of internet marketing, then articles are the lifeblood.  Successful article writing and marketing determine the success of websites, no matter what the site’s niche may be.  It’s good articles that drive traffic to your site.   But what makes a good article?  In this article are 4 parts to a good article that should always be included: (1) Keywords and phrases, (2) Keyword density, (3) Good content, and (4) Links to your website.

(1)    Keywords and Phrases

An article must always be centered on the keywords and keyword phrases.   These are the tools that drive a visitor to your article.  Identify keywords and phrases that are most important to your subject, then use those keywords and phrases, but be careful not to overuse the words.

(2)    Keyword Density

Now that you have your keywords and keyword phrases, you must use them just enough, but not too much.   An article must have good keyword density for a search engine to identify its presence.   Keyword density is the number of times a keyword or keyword phrase is used on an article. The number varies depending on the number of words used in an article.

An effective article must have a keyword density that is not too high or too low.  With a very high density, the essence of the article is lost and may turn off a reader as well as the search engines.  Likewise, a low number may be ignored by the search engines.  The guide that I use is for each keyword or phrase to total 1% to 2% of the total words in the article.

(3)    Good Article Content

Articles must be regarded as good reading materials and offer valuable information for the reader.  Make sure you proofread and spell check the article.  Poor spelling and grammar lead the reader to believe that you may not be someone they can trust for information.   If you want people to trust you, make it evident that you have put lots of effort into the writing of the article.

(4)    Linking Articles to Your Website

When submitting articles to ezines and/or contributing your articles to newsletters and other sites, ALWAYS include a link to your website.   A resource box with a brief description of you and your site should always be placed right after your articles that you have submitted.   If readers like your articles, they will most likely click on the link directing them to your site.
Obviously, all internet marketers want to have traffic on their website.  Good article writing is a proven and effective way to get that traffic.  Ensure that you produce good articles by using your keywords, watching the density of the keywords, providing good content for the reader, and including a resource box with information on you and your website.  Remembering these things will result in a well written article that will catch the attention of your customers and keep them coming back for more.
